Florence Friday: Mr. Franco, Mr. Carlo, Clara, and "The Secretary"

All right everyone.  Finals are over, and despite my new effort to get to bed at a decent hour (as my new schedule doesn't enable me to sleep in until noon anymore), I suppose I can pull out a Florence Friday that's more of an update.  It's about time.  =) In my last Florence Friday, I told you all that 2 of 2 emails that I sent out after Mr. Franco's response to me have been answered. Since my letter to Mr. Franco was so carelessly responded to, I decided not to put too much effort into the email to his superior in Washington D.C. Mind you, I just copied and pasted his name from somewhere else. I didn't even make the effort to insert that special symbol over the "a" in his name. I actually don't know if Mr. Carlo here is Mr. Franco's superior--in fact, I'm almost sure he isn't.  But just because I emailed someone in D.C. sure made me feel like I was contacting Mr. Franco's superior.  =P I did, however, give Mr. Carlo the...

Florence Friday: The "Itinerary" to "Spontaneity" ratio

It's hard work planning a trip two years in advance.  Part of me likes a little spontaneity.  Sometimes I think I deliberately wait for the last minute in order to help myself plan less.  Plans always  go awry. This weekend I planned to visit Vancouver, BC. But the only part of the plan that I have currently is that I'm going--as long as it's not raining too hard-- tomorrow .  I'm either going to get terribly lost, or have a ton of fun wasting gas.  =) Despite living four years in Bellingham, and having my own car and passport, this will be my first trip to Vancouver without my family. They came up for my 20th birthday and took me up there for an overnight experience .  It was then, with my entire family at the table in a so-so mexican restaurant in downtown Vancouver, that I discovered my absolute dislike for the taste of grenadine in my mixed drinks.
