Sunday Crafties: Easter version!

exactly.   It's 1am, and I ought to be sleeping, but for some odd reason my brain is going a million miles an hour.  Maybe that's the remnants of my coffee this morning, and my chai tea in the afternoon.  I bet it's the chai. It doesn't keep much caffeine to keep me going.  Since I typically only drink water--very rarely will I drink juice, even...the once-a-month chai concoction is enough to keep me WIDE awake at night. Anyhoooo.  Hoo!  >.<   or rather: O_O Let me stress that it is late.  But I wanted to show you all how Easter went! I had a whirlwind weekend that started off with me dropping off my boss in Lynwood on Saturday(egad, 1.5 hrs in a car with my boss!) and then, based on a text from my mom en route, continued my southern migration from there for an Easter weekend at home. Here are the results! Easter Chick, Ninja Turtle 'stache, Hipster egg, Panicked egg, Dead egg, Volleyball, Blue eyes, Bunny, Naruto nin...

Sunday Crafties

Hello, my wonderful readers! At the beginning of Spring break, before  I got sick, I promised you all I would show you what crafts my sister and I ended up making together.  I'm a little late on the uptake, I realize. Well, due to my untimely illness, I only accomplished half of what I said I was going to...But here are the final results! A handmade book for my roommate's birthday  A jewelry board to hold all my earrings (and necklaces too) And just another view of the jewelry board.   Yep, I used thumb-tacks to hold everything.  I do kinda wish it was drilled into the wall, though. Unfortunately, my apartment forces me to secure everything to my walls with Command Strips and prayers. All my projects were terribly fun to make, if not kind of mindless... But now I've started the countdown to my dreaded graduation day, and I have to set these things aside for a little while.

Sunday Scribbles: Crafties with Kaela

I'm at home with my family this Spring Break.  At this moment, I'm trying to decide if I'd rather be at home in Bellingham or not.  I've been going back and forth on the answer since yesterday.  On the plus side, though: my sister and I went on a 2hr excursion to JoAnne's and bought supplies for some DIY projects I've had on my list for half a year.  If I'm looking forward to anything this week, it's how many crafts I get to do with her.  I don't do them on my own.  >.< The craft list: a jewelry board  to hang, organize and display my wonderful feather earrings, rather than stuffing them in boxes. a handmade book to serve as my "Dream journal" in class next quarter, and use up remaining supplies from my final project, and improve the design. another handmade book to give to my roommate as a belated birthday present, because, despite all my complaining, she's not so bad.  =) Hunger Games nails  to celebrate the fact th...

Sunday Scribbles: Variations on a Sunset

This Sunday, I have learned three things: the scanners on campus are infinitely superior to the one I have at home.   I was very distracted in class on Friday I don't know where half of the inspirations for my drawings come from. I also don't know why I chose to draw these specific things together on the same page. Also.  I can't count. It's finals week.  Dead week killed me.  I've risen from the dead to continue working. You'll forgive me. ALSO!  If you'd like to see the project that stole my sleep, my soul, and gradually my health and sanity this quarter, I created a new "professional" blog on which to display the results of all my madness.  Follow the link. You know you want to. Happy Sunday before finals, everyone!  =)

Sunday Scribbles: Stress

You know, I missed last Sunday's Sunday Scribbles, and I didn't even notice.  That's how busy I've been.  I hate dead week (Lovely teachers, I think you have it backwards...Finals week is supposed to be more difficult than dead week. >.<) I really ought to rename this day "Sunday Stresses" or "Stressful Scribbles". I was going to post a picture I drew on Illustrator today, but it seems as though my computer is deciding to be a jerk again.  Three weeks ago my Microsoft programs all got corrupted and needed to be reinstalled, putting me behind in my work for my 402 class.  Just now, InDesign crashed and decided it was going to take the entire Adobe Creative Suite with it.  I'm supposed to send that project to my client for review tomorrow, and I don't have the disks with me for a re-install. Life is sucking at the moment.  I'll figure it out, though. =/ What I probably would have drawn if my computer had decided to work. ...

Sunday Scribbles: A day without human interaction

Happy Sunday! Well, on most accounts, I hope it's a happier Sunday for you than it has been for me.  It's been a mediocre day, at best: full of homework, zero interaction with other humans, and the slight itch of impending doom coming in the next week. Here's a list of things I did today: Woke up late. Made pancakes that made me sick. Ate carrots and drank water to make me feel better. Watched La Femme Nikita. Showered. Ran out of hot water in the shower.  >.< Microwaved leftover ramen for lunch. Drove to campus to be reminded that the library was closed. Drove to south campus to work in the AW mac lab instead. Ate a half a pear in the mac lab during the 6+ hours I was there. Watched Once Upon A Time at 8pm. Made chicken and orzo for dinner.  Ate more carrots. Finished off the box of Trader Joe's cookies I bought 2 days ago. Denied an invitation to lay-up the chassis on the formula car. Fixed my bed just to lie in it. (I intend to yoga ju...

Sunday Scribbles: Breasts, Boats, and Fried Whales

Happy Sunday everyone!  It's been a week since I drew my chubby Kidney Man, and I haven't posted like I promised.  So today you'll get a double dose of Sunday Scribbles! I had to do some fancy stuff with the flash on my point and shoot to get rid of the nasty reflection. Drawing inspiration from my classmate Maddie's  blog on the body, I've sort of become fascinated with learning how to draw boobs (breasts? I never know what to call them.) That's right, Maddie, you had better do a blog on breasts.  =) I've never really been great at managing to draw spheres.  The shading/lighting really throws me off.  So one night I decided to see if I could copy one of the paintings I have up in my room. "Butterfly Tattoo", by Amy Brown . Obviously, fairies don't have nipples, so I had to make her human. The interesting thing about Butterfly Tattoo is that whenever people come over and see her, their biggest problem is not that...

Sunday Scribbles: Kidney Man

The following post is a lie. I told you that Sunday Scribbles was to get me to draw every week.  Well...I have been drawing.  In fact, I've drawn quite a bit over the last couple days.  But I just don't have time to scan them in tonight!  So, as a placeholder, and a reminder, I drew this quick little guy on my computer for today's Sunday Scribbles: I named him "Kidney Man" because his head is shaped like a Kidney bean.

Sunday Scribbles: Playing with Shapes

Two things:       Drawing once a week is hard.       And I dearly hate my scanner. Happy Sunday, everyone!  I hope you all got out of bed at a decent hour!

Sunday Scribbles

On account of wanting to be a graphic designer, I thought I ought to practice my drawing skills.  But, like everything else in my life, I never seem to "have time" for sketching. That's a dirty lie. So, once a week, on Sundays...I will draw you a pretty picture.  Here is today's Sunday Scribble (yes, I do know it's Monday) Did I mention I allowed myself the use of adobe products to make it look more colorful than it is?   Happy Sunday!  (yes.  It's Monday.  I get it.)
