My Sister's Nails: ep 2

The time has come again for another post about my brilliant sister's artistic nail talents. The other ones I had about her were some of my more popular posts, so I guess I'll give you more of what you want. You would not believe how many times Kae has painted her nails since my last post about her nail designs....pretty much every week, people.  Yeesh. Also, I think our --- her --- nail polish collection has doubled just over the summer. We even threw out a bunch of my super old colors.  On average, I'd say she buys a new color every week (that's factoring in the weeks she doesn't buy one AND the weeks she decides to splurge on multiple). It doesn't help that I'm home, either. I just give her more opportunities to spend money. You should have seen her face when I handed her two coupons for nail polish the other day. Her new thing now is the super thin brushes that you -- assuming your hand doesn't shake like an old lady -- can use to creat...

Random Thursday

No, this isn't a new day of the week-- I just wanted to share this cute photo collage my baby sister made of our Easter egg photos!

Sunday Crafties: Easter version!

exactly.   It's 1am, and I ought to be sleeping, but for some odd reason my brain is going a million miles an hour.  Maybe that's the remnants of my coffee this morning, and my chai tea in the afternoon.  I bet it's the chai. It doesn't keep much caffeine to keep me going.  Since I typically only drink water--very rarely will I drink juice, even...the once-a-month chai concoction is enough to keep me WIDE awake at night. Anyhoooo.  Hoo!  >.<   or rather: O_O Let me stress that it is late.  But I wanted to show you all how Easter went! I had a whirlwind weekend that started off with me dropping off my boss in Lynwood on Saturday(egad, 1.5 hrs in a car with my boss!) and then, based on a text from my mom en route, continued my southern migration from there for an Easter weekend at home. Here are the results! Easter Chick, Ninja Turtle 'stache, Hipster egg, Panicked egg, Dead egg, Volleyball, Blue eyes, Bunny, Naruto nin...

Sunday Crafties

Hello, my wonderful readers! At the beginning of Spring break, before  I got sick, I promised you all I would show you what crafts my sister and I ended up making together.  I'm a little late on the uptake, I realize. Well, due to my untimely illness, I only accomplished half of what I said I was going to...But here are the final results! A handmade book for my roommate's birthday  A jewelry board to hold all my earrings (and necklaces too) And just another view of the jewelry board.   Yep, I used thumb-tacks to hold everything.  I do kinda wish it was drilled into the wall, though. Unfortunately, my apartment forces me to secure everything to my walls with Command Strips and prayers. All my projects were terribly fun to make, if not kind of mindless... But now I've started the countdown to my dreaded graduation day, and I have to set these things aside for a little while.

Sunday Scribbles: Crafties with Kaela

I'm at home with my family this Spring Break.  At this moment, I'm trying to decide if I'd rather be at home in Bellingham or not.  I've been going back and forth on the answer since yesterday.  On the plus side, though: my sister and I went on a 2hr excursion to JoAnne's and bought supplies for some DIY projects I've had on my list for half a year.  If I'm looking forward to anything this week, it's how many crafts I get to do with her.  I don't do them on my own.  >.< The craft list: a jewelry board  to hang, organize and display my wonderful feather earrings, rather than stuffing them in boxes. a handmade book to serve as my "Dream journal" in class next quarter, and use up remaining supplies from my final project, and improve the design. another handmade book to give to my roommate as a belated birthday present, because, despite all my complaining, she's not so bad.  =) Hunger Games nails  to celebrate the fact th...

My Sister's Nails

I love cookies. But Cookie Monster is a traitor. They switched him over to veggies.  =( Today is Sunday, and I'm frantically searching around for a scanner that's not being used so I can scan some of the things I drew this week for today's Sunday Scribbles.  I dread using mine at home, but 90% of campus is closed today! =/ How am I supposed to be a good student if my favorite haunt in the library is locked?! On another note, my sister has painted her nails since I last posted about her. She painted them several  times.  And she gets more creative every time.   Kae, have you run out of nail polish yet? For Valentine's Day. She's using Crackle nail polish, there. On kinda the same note, The Hunger Games movie is coming out in March, and I"m super excited. Those books were my only friends last spring, and there's a certain catch in my voice, and ache just above my stomach that I attribute to the magic of those books. M...

My sister, the artist

Today's blog is about nail polish. (take a deep breath, boys.  I'll keep it short.) My younger sister hasn't taken much interest in video games, like my brother and I have.  She also dislikes being an over-achiever in school (like my brother an I are), and she's an all around athlete (so unlike us).   She still gets good grades, and plays video games once in awhile on the Wii, but she genuinely loves crafts.   Oh yeah...she can cook better than me too. She's a genius at artsy things.   She'll make her own headbands, make her own feather chains to put in her hair, draw clever pictures for birthday cards, scrapbook like a pro...If it's crafty, she will learn it--and be good at it. One of these crafty passions she's in at the moment involves painting her nails.  And it's not just the boring one-color paint job like I do on mine: My nails: a suspicious shade of lime green I was gifted for Christmas. Thank goodness it's al...
